After School for Young Artists The Color Wheel Comes to Life!
Cynthia Caraway and Ronda Reynolds-Smith

Children catch the spirit of art as they work extensively with color! In this lively approach to color theory, each student will build a color wheel, beginning with primary colors and then mixing secondary and tertiary colors. It’s a great way to learn how colors relate to each other. Using color families, children will also create cool color collages, warm color weavings, and powerful paintings. This hands-on experience will give young artists tools that will help them develop their artistic talents and enjoyment. Materials included in course fee.

Summer Camps

Heritage Green Camp Brings History and Art Together

The Upcountry History Museum and the Greenville County Museum of Art will welcome youngsters to a special “art and history” camp this summer. Children entering grades 2–6 can spend Tuesday–Wednesday at the Upcountry History Museum, with adventures in regional history, Native American crafts, and behind-the-scenes tours. Thursday and Friday, campers will explore the art museum, create their own works of art, and build a mini-museum. Camps run June 16-19 and June 23-26 from 9:00 until noon. Price for the camp is $85 for either UHM or Greenville County Museum of Art members and $95 for non-members. Camp fee includes all supplies and a snack each day.

For this camp only, register at the Upcountry History Museum (864/467-3100). If you have questions, contact Anne Barr at the Greenville County Museum of Art (864/271-7570, ext. 12) or Dawn Hammat at the Upcountry History Museum (864/267-3100, ext 113).
